Abstract The increase in imports of veterinary drugs, the reduction of the market for domestic producers, the use of live vaccines of foreign production containing strains of viruses not circulating in Russia, entails an additional threat of penetration of these new pathogens in the country. Aggressive policy on the part of foreign producers, creating a potential dependence of our livestock producers on the use of imported drugs, leads, first of all, to the threat of food and biological safety of our country. Now it can be observed in pig breeding and livestock. During the last years of biopreparate and specialized research institutions are developing the import substitution program actual and perspective of immunobiological veterinary drugs.
